Anyone here at 60 yet?Follow

Curious to how people are doing with leveling, and wondering if anyone who posts here has dinged 60 already.

I feel like I've been playing a ton since Friday afternoon... and I'm only level 55 (about halfway to 56). I see others hitting 58, 59 and 60 and feel like I'm doing something terribly wrong, given how much I've been playing.

Also, do you guys feel like the 50 to 60 climb is taking as much time as the original 0 to 50 climb? It's a substantial climb, for sure, but I feel like it's faster. Might actually turn out to be pretty close though.

60 DRK and 57 AST now. It's a HECK of a lot faster than 1-50 due to not only Vault being godly for speeding running exp but they force you into tons of side quests before you can even unlock some current side quests, so you actually get exp forced onto you. Ignoring FATES (for your sanity) it takes barely a day to hit 60 of consecutive play, whereas depending, 1-50 could take a weekish. Challenge Log is a large chunk of your exp and daily roulettes, but you will be spamming aery, vault an Library - Mostly the Vault.

New player bonus brings completion exp to 80-220k extra, so..basically it's not that long at all depending on your playstyle. If you love FATEs.it'll take you a few weeks due to abysmal exp. 16-30k exp from a 51-58 FATE, so it's mimicking level 30-49 FATE exp return.

I'm only 54, but I've been taking my time on leveling - enjoying the scenery, doing other stuff like helping to build the FC airship, etc.

Seriously, I'm doing something wrong lol.

I wonder if I've been spending too much time doing all the side quests. That said, I'm also not skipping cutscenes or NPC text, and I've stayed current on my new paladin quests as well. I also haven't used reddit to shorten my path to flying, which I know would speed things up. But I've really done nothing but play on paladin, and I'm not even level 56! Hio, my brain hurts just thinking about how you already have a 60 AND a 57... it's like when I'm out running, and I'm passing most people and feeling pretty good... and then BAM! Some dude flies by me like I'm standing still.

Most the 60s, I've heard, are FATE grinding and dungeon running repeatedly. They just did enough of the story to unlock new jobs and started leveling seen some 60 DRK already. People are insane! I'm more like Catwho. I'm 52 almost 53 and I've played about 8 hours since launch. Taking my time exploring, questing and helping people out.

Yeah, started up DRK to help someone level their DPS so it went pretty quickly to 50 then 50-60 was purely on story and the dungeon spamming (they're all fairly quick) and she went DRK and I went AST. On one of my alts I started the BRD towards 60 but only 55. Basically when you're working towards your aether currents a lot of quests are chains so you're getting like 160k+ exp just pushing towards those currents (some require dungeon clears so may as well spam em in between.)

No, NIN's halfway thru 53 and I'm leveling DRK on the side currently at 37. No need to rush we got 2 weeks.

I've put a few hours a day since launch and I just hit level 54 on my DRG last night. I put one level on Miner using leves (by the way, the new leves that cost ten leves for a bonus reward are so not worth it), and spent the rest of the time making money hand over fist. I don't really need it right now, but I figure the relic quest will have at least one gil sink to it, so I might as well be ready. Anyway, people already at 60, especially those using the new jobs need to calm the **** down. It's not race. Getting there first doesn't mean anything, and you're passing up a ton of game play on the way.

Unless you had everything leveled in 1.0 including Arcanist (that didn't exist) I'm pretty sure you got to 50 in ARR fairly quickly too. By the way, new jobs start at 30 - Meaning you already chopped off 30 levels and only gaining 30 levels.

30 Levels is nothing, especially with the side quests. You're not passing up a ton of gameplay because HW -PUSHES- you through the zones, meaning unless you sit back and do every single FATE..then I don't know what to say, because I've cleared all quests in every zone as I went through my level and went back for the ones that opened up later for my second job.

It's not that hard. Really, it's not. Try it some time. I can even type out the entire storyline, right now, if you want me to, since you know clearly I must have passed up gameplay...or something.

You're right if, and only if, the leve allowances would not have otherwise been wasted.

If you're sitting at 100/100 allowances and don't really feel like hammering out 6 leves a day, then doing a couple of the 10-leve quests IS a worthwhile thing to do.

#11Turin, Posted: Jun 23 2015 at 9:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually, no I didn't get to 50 fairly quickly. It took over a month to get the first one. But that's because I'm not some basement dweller doing nothing but play the game all day every day. I know how long it takes to go through the zones, doing the missions and the side quests and dungeon grinding your way to to cap because I'm in the middle doing it right now. I've personally spent three to four hours a day (which is far more than I would usually play) and I've gotten to 54 so far. To get to 60 once, and almost do it a second time in just four days is a seriously unhealthy amount of game time. In short, shut up and go outside.

You get about 300K exp from the new dungeons, so if you spam those you level FAST. And they're not terribly difficult.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't assume he's a basement dweller--he may have simply burned some vacation days. I'm only 51 myself because I've only played 2 or 3 hours total since early access. Busy with a work project right now. But if I did put in the time, I'd probably be around mid 50s. Good to know the grind won't be that long though, because there are 3 jobs that I want at 60 for sure.

Combining leveling with work right now sucks but still managed to get my Machinist to lvl 55 yesterday.
I'm basically doing all the quests I find and doing the dungeons and trials when I unlock them.

Not too bothered with rushing through it, I'll be 60 before Alexander releases anyway

So...in other words you're just being a **** for the sake of it? Got it. You don't have to be a basement dweller to know how to efficiently use your time and level in this game. Let me break it down for you:

Challenge Logs alone give you well over 350k bonus exp. Sightseeing log for HW ares give you a lot as well. The Vault rains exp and is extremely quick to go through to the point it's hard to call it a grind because it's so fast and easy. Just because you fail at efficently using your time doesn't mean others do. I know how long it takes to get a zone too, because I did it to get DRK to 60 after I hit 50.

By the way, 30-50 is only 20 levels - 20 levels in ARR takes no time at all. Did you know, coerthas and north thanalan fates are fast, easy and quick exp to the point almost everyone does it for a reason? Throw in DD first room spam and AV runs, you hit 50 in no time. You're just extremely slow and butthurt for reasons unknown, but you do you my friend.

You say you spent 3-4 hhours being more than you usually play...guess what? 3-4 hours is at least 2 levels 50+ if you're going slowly and more than 5 at level 30+. Let me ask you a question.

What gameplay did I supposedly skip by doing my missions, challenge log, sightseeing log, job quests and side quests? The fact it took you over a month to get 50 when even yoshida stated it'd take about a week of 'casual gameplay' to hit 50 doesn't mean anyone who is 50, let alone 60 fairly quick rushed. The fact the new jobs start at 30 means you already start at the "quick" leveling from ARR.

When side quests give you 33.6k - 78k exp per and are numerous chains..do you really not see how fast it is? Sorry to burst your bubble, but in short: Take the stick out of your ***, learn how to level efficiently and you'll realize you don't have to be a basement dweller to level in this game.

Sounds like you are playing the game it self instead of wizzing through it.

I know a few who have hit 60, they done so because they didn't do anything they didn't need. They concentrated on levelling (doing dailies, some hit fates hard), a few have finished the story because again they concentrated on it. Most of these if they have hit 60 or done the main scenario have also had little sleep or work.

Working Monday to Friday here 40 hours a week at least, other half to spend time with and I'm only 55/56 on two jobs and not long unlocked flying in MIST.

I have cleared all sub quests in 2 previous zones so there is nothing left, I've capped poets, had DC issues Sunday which screwed up half the day. So effectively I've not had as much time as others. I also have not skipped anything, except the odd side quest text.

I would be 60 on both WHM/BRD if I didn't have work or sleep.

Very few of the quest chains are dialog heavy, only the mainstory quests have lengthy ones. So I don't see why people even bring up 'text skipping' as someone rushing. Did you know? Some people have different reading levels and can read faster or slower than others?

Oh my, look at all of the quests I did in 40 minutes that I didn't need to do for my progression.

I don't work weekends and I sleep just fine - Considering the story forces you to grind inbetween segments (level jump pretty quickly) people who are 60 wanted to finish the story, which includes needing to level. So the people you know wizzed through it, but that's not the case for everyone. Some people really just have to understand it's not hard to level in this game. Even 50-60 because the dungeon, unlike 15-50, are actually quicker, easier (except for the last set) and has a ton of exp and currently, tons of new player bonus.

It's not that there's nothing left - once you unlock flight in the zones, more pop up as well as when you start gaining levels. Unlike 2.x, the markers don't show up until you actually level. The only reason in 2.x it showed up was because if you went into it from 1.0 with a 50 you automatically flipped the switch to have them display. There's more 50+ quests back in 2.x areas as well.

Please tell me where I said “This person is reading slow or fast” people ARE skipping the texts – some have admitted it to me. You may like to think everyone is reading everything, if you want to be naive go ahead. People may read incredibly fast but that still isn’t the same pace as skipping and that my friend is fact. Some side quests even have CS’s. Sorry my friend you can believe that someone skipping a lot doesn’t add up to many minutes but if you want to go back through it all and work out the difference you are more than welcome. It does make a difference and that is a fact. Sounds like you seem to have a problem with the above, perhaps you are skipping a lot and you don’t like it? That is an assumption on my part but only you can answer if you actually are skipping every side quest text.

So again What’s your point? Tearing apart a post for no reason? I was simply stating a fact that some people do other bits and pieces that you don’t need, again what’s your point?

Did I say everyone? I think you need to seriously read through my post before you respond because you are putting words in my mouth or shall I say words in to my post. I stated the ones I know. If people want to skip a lot of the text and stick to what they NEED to do above all the extra’s well that’s their decision. I was simply stating possible reasons why people are hitting 60 quickly and when people are telling me that’s what they do – that’s tough luck on you because it’s fact.

Also when did I say it's hard to level? I have no problem with a couple of fates while I Spam DF the latest dungeon or get Sub Quests done. I'm happy to grind grind and grind, XIV grind is nothing compared to XI so I find it a doddle.

I didn’t know that unlocking flying in a zone unlocked more quests………………………………………………………. Oh wait yes I did and they are cleared as well. I could have mentioned that MIST is a prime example of a zone that just did that, I have about 10+ quests to do in that zone and that’s after unlocking flying…………………………

Another assumption on my part is perhaps you have not finished those two zones of side quests?? Rushing the story and level 60 at all?

Also what’s 1.0 got anything to do with what I posted…………………., this is 3.0 and has nothing to do with my original post.

Most of "these" meaning? If you elaborated the people you know, otherwise it seems you're referring to in this topic, which I've hit 60..meaning you were stating I was one of the people who had little sleep or work. English isn't my first language, so it sounds much more like you're referring to "Most of the people who are 60", not exactly specific there so of course I'll assume you're also referring to me.

Quote:

I mentioned 1.0 > 2.0 as it showed every quest to you without having to unlock things/level - You mentioned you were only 55/56 so was saying that there were likely quests you didn't have activated yet considering you said there was 'nothing left', and I know from a lot of LS/FC chatter people simply missed those quests because they didn't backtrack the zone to see the new ones opened (since the story pushes you from zone to zone and very little backtracking, especially if you went lower rather than upper route first. I've finished them on my main but I didn't on my alt yet. So incorrect assumption in that regard.

Another note on skipping;

Even though the game rarely penalizes you for wrong options, you wouldn't know the answer to some dialogue choices or hints on where to go/what to do if you did skip, so it's much more satisfying getting the "correct dialog" in a quest by actually reading it. So if you had people admit that they skipped, cool..but I was saying that you can get there quickly without skipping or "rushing", HW design is fairly straightforward and surprisingly easy/quick in dungeon design for most of them. Aery was the only progression dungeon that really changed it up, Library was a fun one but not something to really grind unless you want the gear.

I'm 55, but I spent the first few days of the patch doing FC crafting and not really touching the new areas. I skip sidequest text. I read main quest text. I don't dungeon grind. People shouldn't judge what other people do with their game time, as long as it's within the rules. Just sayin'.

I'm a bit late posting but I hit 60 yesterday 6/23 at lunch. On my bard. Finished the story last night.

The queues for DPS on the dungeons... abysmal.

I'm going at paladin right now, still at lvl 50, but just casually leveling him on daily hunt logs while letting my bard take all the high level / low level / trial roulettes for law tomestones at the moment. Cleared my weekly hunt and do all the hunts everyday, I have one of the weapon upgrade items so when I get the 170 weapon today I can upgrade it to 180 (at least I'm told that feature unlocks after you actually buy a weapon, but we will see).

Once I hit 51 on paladin, I'm going to farm the dungeons. At the moment, being a DPS ahead in progression is a lonely world of 40 minute uncertain queue times. Fortunately I haven't had any bad groups, but I go back and run Ravana HM and well, that seems to be the current roadblock for most casuals. Haven't found a party that is decent enough to kill the butterflies since my first group on day 1 where we 1 shot it blind ><

I'm 52 Machinist at the moment. Been playing pretty consistently, but maybe not as efficiently as others. I dunno, expansion is pretty fun so far. Machinist gets a lot of procs/cds so it's a busy dps job. Good stuff.

Wow, really? It took us a few tries but Ravanna did not seem that difficult once you figured out the gimmicks. All the Swarmians, even the casuals like Lahurah, have been clearing it no problem.

Are people really just that bad?

I had the revelation today that Tataru represents the "crafting 50 only" folks that got to Ishgard and couldn't do anything else but sit in the tavern, drink, and make clothes for people. And THAT is why you have to finish 2.55 to get into Ishgard, dammit. Smiley: motz

I tend to drive within margin of the speed limit, anyone driving faster than me by 10MPH is breaking the law. Also I for one did not even remotely criticise people who rush content. If that's what they want they are doing absolutely NO harm to me. What they can't argue is if I say HOW they are doing it and they choose to take that as criticism - tough luck and that's a fact. Likewise for speeding, if some one wants to drive faster, they are more than welcome to. If they are speeding to make sure they get to work on time, they can't argue if I turn around and say why they are speeding. That's not defending them nor attacking them, simply stating a fact.

So far I've not had a failed run, had 5 wipes in 4 wins, one thing I noticed is healers who are on the ball can really make the difference. Now before a certain poster rips that a part I would state - my experience. This does not mean I am talking about others experience or people I've never met, spoke to or done any DFs/Hunts/Towers with. Hopefully that one poster can take the hint.
