This quest is initiated by examining the book of the same name, bought from Sage Nevarius Orvalis in North Freeport. After each step you must read the book again to receive the next. They are:

Visit the Deathfist Quarry. (loc +340, -114, -118, bottom of the elevator shaft for update)
Kill 8 Vallon Miners.
Kill 6 Vallon undersmiths.
Kill 5 Vallon sentries.
Kill 3 Vallon seers.
Kill 6 Vallon grunts.
Kill 6 dust adders.
Kill 4 Vallon centurions.
Kill 8 dust adders.

After completing all tasks, the quest finishes and you receive the furniture version of the book, "The Far Side of Tears, Part Two"
