Return to Diu, though he is now gone, so speak to Miau instead
Head west-northwest of Miau and find Diu on the ice shelf at -1493,-541,-2427 . Speak to him.
Click the spirit drum next to Diu repeatedly until a materialized demonic entity (88^, worth AA) spawns. This takes a LOT of clicks.
Speak to Diu to complete the quest.

The shaman Diu desperately needs me to help him overcome a terrible problem. The shaman is losing control of a very strong entity rampaging in the spirit world. It has gained great power and will soon begin to affect the physical world by possessing and destroying weak hearts and minds. I must help him contain it.

Stage 1

I must gather sacred shells from the icy shore west of Fina's Retreat and return with them to the othmir shaman Diu.

Complete:	Diu is gone, I spoke with Miau instead

Start:	Find Diu north of Fina's Retreat
Complete:	I found Diu

I have gathered sacred shells in the Iceclad ocean and returned where Diu was, but he was gone. After speaking with Miau, I found him in near the abandoned gnoll camp.

Stage 2

I must bang on the spirit drum in order to force the monster to materialize on the ice north of Fina's Retreat.

Start:	Beat the drum fast
Complete:	I beat the drum

Stage 3

The sound of the drum was like a heart beat in the creature, forcing it to become like one of the living. Now that it has a heart, I can cut it out. The creature is looming on the ice north of Fina's Retreat.

Start:	Kill the spirit monster and cut out its heart

Stage 4

I must speak to the othmir shaman Diu on the ice north of Fina's Retreat once more and present him with the heart of the monster that terrorized him.

I have spoken to the othmir shaman Diu once more and presented him with the heart of the monster that terrorized him.

The spirit monster proved to be too powerful and could not be captured. Instead, I forced the creature into a physical form by banging the spiritual drum. The sound of the drum was like a heart beat in the creature, forcing it to become like one of us. Once it had a heart, I cut it out.
