WARNING: Make sure before you leave that you relinquish ownership of your house otherwise you won't be able to get a new one in Freeport. Also remove any items you need from the shared bank. You will regain access to the items in your regular bank slots once you get to Freeport but shared items stay in their original city. Once you have started the quest you won't be able to bank or mail, so bring some cash for repairs, any items you'll be able to use if you level while killing orcs and bank anything you wont be needing so you have room for loot. There are menders in Antonica and the Commonlands.

The quest is initiated by Cordun Brenland in Qeynos Harbor (third floor of Fish's Ale House). He will send you to speak to Cryptcleaner Remy in the Vermin's Snye (this is underneath The Down Below). The easiest way to get to Remy is by using the Down Below gate in the Harbor. There is a subsequent gate into the Vermin's Snye where you zone in and once you use that you will be standing right in front of Remy.

Cryptcleaner Remy will send you into an instanced zone where you will have to kill solo. There will be a group of two in front of you upon zoning in. A patrolling guard is out the door in the courtyard and there is a named guard on the stairs. After you have killed them go through the door at the top of the stairs into the Queen's private room where she lectures you on how terrible your actions have been. After completing her speech, you will be killed and banished into Antonica. You will be unable to recover this shard, but after 72 (real) hours it will be absorbed back into your body. Unless you wait, you will have to play with the negative effects of the missing shard.

Speak to the NPC you are standing near after teleport, a Ratonga called Yuri. Be careful of the wandering treants nearby. Yuri will refer you to Matthias Siegemaker in the Commonlands. To get to the Commonlands without dying, zone to the Thundering Steppes and stay on the path all the way to the dock. Then zone into Nektulos and using autorun (you don't want to stop and let stuff hit you), follow the Hidden Beach Path and then go past the owlbears. Stick to the path as much as you can, but in some places owlbears (they can stun you) wander onto it. There is often a way through the trees to avoid them. If you see a group of skeletons run! They can mez you and can possibly nuke too. Once you reach the river, jump in and swim down it to the south to avoid the aggros on the riverbanks. I've made the run with a level 11 mage, so it can be done if you know where you're goin.

Matthias Siegemaker can be found in the Secret Valley which is north of the Hidden Canyon Station tower. He will ask you to kill 500 orcs in Commonlands (though you will get quest credit for orc kills in the Wailing Caves or the Ruins - if you go to the Ruins you can kill 500 greys in under 3 hours). He also wants the following named mobs dead:

Dinas Drefelin can usually by found on the hill near the village south of the Ruins of Valmarr (+530, -47, +430). He is known to despawn. Level 17 or 18 double up arrow. Garreg Stonecrusher can be found in the Wailing Caves. Look in the chamber past the pool of water with all the ghost bats in it. Level 17 solo. Dolfor Mochdre can be found in the middle of the Dervish Encampment in the Commonlands (+1300, -41, +233). Level 17 solo. Glan Mostyn roams around in the southern part of the Commonlands between the two towers (-450, -44, 450). Level 18 double up. Grug Geifr wanders the east bank of the western river in the Commandlands (+180, -47, +150). Level 17 or 18 solo.

You can find more information on these monsters in their respective bestiary pages (see related mobs).

After completing these tasks return and speak to Matthias Siegemaker in the Commonlands. He requires you to find the Message Runner who roams the area between the Crossroads and the docks. Speak to him and complete the dialogue correctly to avoid a fine: 1) I like the part about you not saying a word. Ever. Say goodbye to Freeport, friend. He then attacks you. Lvl 16 soloable.

Then you head to Cargomaster Libertius at the mariner bell dock (-1038, -145, -646). He will give you a choice of two dialogue options 3 times. You will be fined 1gp for each incorrect answer. 1) Hmmm... I'll have to rough up my appearance to blend in. I didn't think about that. 2) It's not. There has been an attempt on the life of the queen. 3) Fear not... the murderer was unable to breach her defenses, thankfully. He then dies from poison (alcohol poisoning? :P). Apparently the Cargomaster has a 1-3 hour timer so be prepared to wait around for him. Also, if you take too long to answer he may despawn.

After that, return to Matthias. He then sends you to go gather items from some of the citizens in the Commonlands.

First a ring from Aethus Kasyu (-1235, -55, -500). He is near the fallen orcs (skeletal orcs) east of dock. The correct dialogue answers are: 1) You're lying - you've already bought the ring. Now hand it over and I'll be nice. 2) Give me the ring or she'll find your corpse waiting to propose to her. 3) Cheer up, friend. I'm certain there's some goblin out there that will marry you. Thanks!

Secondly you need to get a medal from Grandma Twirlwhizzer (-506, -43, -263) at the Crossroads next to Mender Gubta. Answer her with the following: 1) Exactly. Now fork it over or I'm going to have to get more persuasive with you. 2) Save the drama, lady. Either hand it over or I'll pry it from your cold fingers. 3) Thanks, grandma. I'll be sure to give this to some deserving orc.

And finally head to Stalker Granis (+482, -55, +475) and take his lucky shard. He is near of the village south of the Ruins of Valmarr. 1) I think you're in no position to make demands, Granis. Give me your lucky shard. 2) Anything you say? How about your life? Shall I take that? 3) Thanks, Granis. I think I could get a whole copper for something like this. Bye!

Return to Matthias. He asks you to kill War Duke Gesarius who is located near the northern entrance to the Yapping Maze (+1090, -40, -400). You may have noticed him if you revive from within Fallen Gate, as he stands near the tent at the revive point. Answer him with: 1) I'm not letting you make it to Qeynos alive, craven. Now it's time for you to die. He then attacks you.

After killing him, return to Matthias one last time to complete the quest. Welcome to Freeport!
