Runes of Magic Chapter V Q&A
Questions about RoM's newest chapter, Fires of Shadowforge!
6.Will non-dwarves be able to run the new Taffrock Outskirts instance, or is it only for dwarven players?
Technically other players will be able to enter this instance, but in general the whole zone and the instance are designed for the dwarves.
7.The other new instance, Aeternal Circle, is said to have puzzles after each boss. Could you give us some information on what to expect? Do the puzzles change?
After each boss players need to unravel a mystery. In front of the teleporter to the next stage they will find nine squares. What they need to do is to activate three squares in a specific order to activate the teleporter. The possible solutions for the mystery can be in a diagonal, vertical or horizontal line. The solutions are totally random for every mystery and will change after each instance visit.
8.Many players seem happy with siege walls no longer being affected by DOTs. However, healing DOTs do not work either, and some classes (like rogues) lose much of their effectiveness without bleeds. Is this intended, or will it be addressed in a later patch?
This was intended, because we needed to change the damage calculation in siege wars. We noticed that a lot of guilds just relied on their rogues to destroy castle buildings. To improve the game, and especially the group play in siege wars, it was necessary to decrease the effect of DoTs.
9.Has the damage reduction in battlefields (the change from 50% to 90%) gone into effect yet? What is the goal behind this change, and will healing be changed as well to keep healers from becoming too powerful?
The reduction of the damage in general battlefields has been implemented. We needed to improve the way we handle the damage of well-equipped players in the battlefields. We saw too much discrepancy between the low-level and high-level players in these battles, so much that we had to decrease the damage dealt by Damage Dealers.
The next step will be an improvement of the healers in the battlefields, but at this moment we are still monitoring how the damage reduction is affecting the gameplay.
10.We had heard that Runes of Magic will be playable through a web browser (as it already is in Europe). Any news on when this feature will come to the US?
Yes, that’s right. European players are able to play Runes of Magic in their browser through a special technology. We are currently in discussions about which system we want to implement for the US market. That means yes, we will provide the opportunity to play Runes of Magic faster instead of downloading the whole client, but we have not decided yet what kind of system it will be.
