Tora instructed me to focus my thoughts on her ancestor by inhaling the perfumed smoke from the herbs, and touching the axe that belonged to him. If her ritual is successful, we may be able to contact his spirit to try and learn some way to free the ghosts from their trapped state.

Start: | I should let Tora know what the General said. |

---|
I let Tora know that the General did not know of anything other than Brell's own blessing that might help free the spirits. Tora's ritual worked to some extent: I was able to make contact with her ancestor General Bragmur, but the great guilt she feels prevented her from seeing or hearing him. I discovered the reason for her guilt, and that of all the coldain: the ring war warriors were not killed at the hands of the giants, but by their own kindred, who used the waterfall to flood the entire battlefield and end the war. Because of this, the spirits of the Ring War warriors are trapped in their current state, unable to leave this realm for the Halls of the Creator, instead reliving the final battle over and over. Unfortunately, Bragmur did not know of any force less powerful than Brell's own blessing that could free them from this endless cycle.
