Game Update #62
December 6, 2011

Speak to Thesla Blackthorne at -74, -8, -120 outside the Temple of War in North Freeport to begin this quest.

  1. Speak to Foci Tamara Paust in the lower level of the Academy of Arcane Science at 19, -34, -148 .
  2. Foci Tamara gives you an Illusory Arasai Effigy, which cannot be used until you are back in Daeneth Cloister.
  3. Go and meet Rusty Cogsprocket just outside the entrance to Longshadow Alley at -96, -35, -359 .
  4. Zone back into Longshadow Alley: Daeneth Cloister.
  5. The Nerian gate sentries you spoke to before will attack as soon as you approach (even if you've already used the illusion). Pull them back a few steps to avoid too much extra aggro.
  6. Two questioners path near the gate sentries; if one of them has not aggroed already, kill one and loot the Cultist Robes from it.
  7. Use the illusion (if you haven't yet) and equip the Cultist Robes in a normal or appearance chest slot. You should see a narrative message of "You look like a cultist!".
  8. Go speak to any Questioner. They will hand you a Questioner's Gem.
  9. Now go and observe the interrogation method. A good spot is around 1, 0.19, -30 . Watch the entire exchange and your quest will update at the end.
  10. Observe another questioning. A good spot is around 22, 0.49, 4 . Again, watch the entire exchange.
  11. Find a Dark Elf to test the gem on. One can be found around -19, 0, -1 . Use the gem 3-4 times on the Dark Elf for this step to update.
  12. Head back to Rusty outside Longshadow Alley to complete the quest.

OOC The name of this quest, "Nobody Expects It", is a nod to the Monty Python's Flying Circus episode titled "The Spanish Inquisition". This quest name references one of the most-quoted phrases from this episode, in which Cardinal Ximinez said: "NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
