I bought the Scavenger Hunt List as the first thing I did for Bristlebane Holiday and did not realize I was supposed to look right away or that there was a time limit. SO Yes, if you just buy the Scavenger Hunt List, you end up with the reward. You do not have to search for a single item on it. The only problem with what I received, was that it was so large (at it's smallest size) that I can not wear it..... hehehehehehehe
